A lot of us spend a lot of time wrestling with the very magnitude of climate change, and pontificating about what to do about it as individuals, as groups… as a species at the crossroads of saving this little planet and destroying it.
Thankfully, the young seem to have figured it out already. The’ve got it. Let’s hush up and let them talk, and then let them lead.

Yesterday the L.A. Times’ editorial board dropped the “s-word”… and it was sweet and satisfying. Smart and serious. “Surviving climate change means an end to burning fossil fuels. Prepare yourself for sacrifices.”
Imagine that — “sacrifices”! — And in the title even….

It’s fascinating to watch what happens when someone suggests we adapt to climate change “instead of” fighting it, especially when that person is one of this beleaguered globe’s Reigning People of Letters.
The RPOL in this case is Corrections author Jonathan Franzen, whose essay “What If We Stopped Pretending” ….
